David Freese

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman David Freese was born on April 28, 1983 in Corpus Christi, Texas, but soon after moved to the Greater St. Louis area where he was raised.  He played his high school baseball at Lafayette High School, establishing himself as the top shortstop in the state.  Freese played his college baseball at the University of South Alabama, winning the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year his final season.  In 2006, the San Diego Padres selected Freese in the ninth round of the Major League Baseball Draft.  After spending the majority of his time in the minor leagues with the Padres, David was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in 2008.  After one year in the minors with the Cardinals, he saw his major league debut on Opening Day of the 2009 season.

David’s time with the St. Louis Cardinals began filled with injuries on the field.  In 2011, after starting the year promising he was injured once again by a pitch that hit his hand.  After missing 51 games, he returned to the line-up and finished the season batting .297 with 10 home runs and 55 RBI.  Freese had his breakout performance in the 2011 postseason.  He held a 13-game hitting streak, while coming up huge with timely clutch hitting as well.  Freese was named the National League Championship Series MVP, as well as carrying the Cardinals to the World Series Championship.  After the World Series, he was awarded World Series MVP, becoming only the 6th player in MLB history to win both MVP awards in the same year.

David Freese is looking to continue to prove himself as one of the best and most clutch players in the MLB.  With all of his accomplishments on the field, David is even better off the field. He is extremely involved with charity work, giving back to the community in any way that he can. David Freese has proved to be a great role model for all of his fans both on and off the field.

Testimonials

  • My son, Bendan Barnard (age 11) had a GREAT time today at David Freese's Baseball Camp held at Lafayette High School in Wildwood, Missouri! He was really excited to get the opportunity to meet his home-town (Wildwood) St. Louis Cardinal and idol but was even more excited when he actually got to pitch strikes to Mr. Freese. And it didn’t stop there… Brendan was one of three participants to be chosen by Mr. Freese as “PlayStation Gamer of the Day!” for his exceptional Sportsmanship, Work Ethic, Leadership & Team-First Attitude! As the PlayStation Gamer of the Day, Brendan received a signed Certificate Award, an Autographed #23 Jersey, an Autographed #23 Baseball Camp Team Picture, an Autographed Sony PlayStation MLB12 “The Show” Video Game (1 of only 15 Autographed Copies) and was called up to take a picture with David Freese and Sony Representatives! It just couldn’t get any better than that!!! Thank You David Freese & Sony- It was truly a great learning experience for Brendan and the recognition award was a Home Run!
  • My nephew and niece went to this camp today and had the time of their life. My nephew Kyle slide into home and David Freese actually looked for him afterwards to tell him what a great slide he did. Kyles dream is to be a Cardinal and he was thrilled that his favorite player noticed and congratulated him. David pitched to Ashley and she got a hit This is a day that Ashley and Kyle will never forget.
  • On June 28th, 2012 was the best day of my son David's life according to him. He got to meet David Freese and "he said that it was the biggest honor of his life to meet him." He got to play ball with him, he also managed to get not 1, but 2 homeruns off of him and 1 line drive. Then my son said that Mr. Freese turned around to him and "said you got two homeruns and a line drive off of me great job and keep up the good work" and tapped him in the back. This meant everything to my son on top of that my son and his baseball team were undefeated this year 12 and 0. My son said " Mom this is the best summer ever. Thanks". What more can I ask for, except thank you to Mr. David Freese and ProCamps.
